The qualifications of investigators are what makes for an outstanding investigative agency. Meet the members of The Hawkins Group and learn about their backgrounds.

Michael O. Hawkins, J.D.

A former South Carolina State Constable, Mike was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1972. He practiced law for over a decade as a trial lawyer in both State and Federal Courts.  Mike is admitted to practice before the courts of South Carolina, the U.S. District Court for South Carolina, the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.  In 1985 Mike became an Agent for the U.S. Naval Investigative Service and conducted felony level criminal, espionage and counter-terrorism investigations in the U.S., Europe and Central America.  He then became a Supervisory Criminal Investigator at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center where he trained thousands of Federal, State, Local and International criminal investigations students.  While there, he was selected by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Treasury and State to be an instructor in Law Enforcement Management and Leadership at the International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest, Hungry where he taught mid and upper level law enforcement executives from the former Soviet Block countries.  After leaving Federal service, Mike became a Senior Judicial Educator for the State of Washington before becoming the Chief Legal Counsel for a government contractor responsible for the detection and investigation of Medicare fraud in thirteen states and three Pacific territories.

Since opening The Hawkins Group, Mike has been involved in a wide variety of investigations in the Seattle area including a large number of criminal defense cases in the Washington and Federal Courts.

Michael J. Jaquish

 

Former Okanogan, WA Assistant Police Chief, Mike has spent his entire career in law enforcement and security.  He is a graduate of the Washington State Basic Police Academy and had completed addtional instruction from the FBI, the WA Criminal Justice Training Commission, the US Diplomatic Security Service and many more agencies.  In the private sector, Mike served as the National Strike Force Supervisor for the Wackenhut Corporation and was the Deputy General Manager for Security Operations at the US Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia.  He has also been the Director of Security at the US Embassy in Banjul, Gambia where he had a security force of nearly 500. Part of his duties were to provide security to the NASA Space Shuttle abort landing site in Gambia.

 

Well known in Washington's private security industry, Mike owned and operated Security Training Services International, served as the Security Supervisor for Brink's Incorporated, and has authored a Security Training Manual for Washington State Security Officers.

 

Mike is an extremely qualified individual with vast experience in law enforcement, security and investigations as well as being an outstanding trainer.

                Janell G. Hawkins

An honors graduate of Central Washington University with degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, Janell is a former Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs, Office of Inspector General where she covered four states investigating a variety of fraud crimes committed against the V.A.   After getting married, she moved to Georgia and became the Chief Investigator for a national Home Healthcare business, and later a Private Investigator specializing in white collar crime investigations for attorneys and corporations.  Janell was also very involved in the training of Federal Agents at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.  After returning home to Western Washington,, Janell became the Region Ten Medicare Fraud Information Specialist for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.   Janell is a member of the Certified Fraud Examiners Association and the Pacific Northwest Association of Investigators,and she is also a licensed Washington Realtor.
